The CAS together with a similar committee in the American Institute of Archaeology sponsored a Joint APA-AIA Workshop on Small Departments at the joint annual meeting in New York, December 28-30, 1996. With the exception of the first two, who represented the CAS and the APA, the speakers all came from small departments (four or fewer members) or programs. They represented a variety of interest and experiences. Our intent was to offer practical advice, and there was ample time for questions and discussions after the presentations. Abstracts of some of the presentations and further information about the time and place of the Workshop may be posted here later.
The Speakers were
