Bruce KRAUT The Princeton Simonides
A small papyrus fragment in the Princeton collection, acquired amongst some larger documentary pieces in 1982 by Ann Hanson and myself for the Rare Books and Manuscripts Department of Princeton Library, dates to the third or second century BCE, and it may just be the earliest extant reference to Simonides sojourn in Thessaly. This text is being presented in hopes that others will scour their own collections for more pieces of this interesting papyrus.
