Committee on Computer Activities

  • The APA Statement of Computer Support is an official APA policy statement. In addition to setting forth general principles, this document may be helpful in supporting departmental requests for computer hardware and services, or in cases where promotion or hire is in part dependent upon technological contributions.
  • The Classics, Technology, and Teaching Subcommittee (CTTS) (est. February 1996) seeks to facilitate national curricular and pedagogical collaboration among classics programs, particularly smaller programs, through various electronic media and technologies. As a first step, the committee has set up CLSTECH, a discussion list designated for sharing information and promoting collaboration in these areas.
  • Classics Course Database a browseable, searchable database of Classics-related courses with on-line components
  • Maria Pantelia's annotated List of Internet Resources will help get you started if you are not fully familiar with the range of information available to Classicists on the internet.
  • Panels at the AIA/APA Annual Meetings sponsored by the committee:
  • For summaries of recent activities, read the committee's 1995 report and 1996 report to the association.

The Committee on Computer Activities is responsible for monitoring new developments in the field of computer technology which are applicable to pedagogy, research, and communication at all levels of the Classics profession. As appropriate, the committee acts both in an advisory capacity to the Association and as an advocate of the use of computer technology.
