State Certification Requirements in Latin
February 2011
This document provides information on Latin Teacher Certification in the 50 States and the District of Columbia, as of February 2011. It replaces the 2004 document prepared by Mary Pendergraft and the Joint Committee on Classics in American Education. I am grateful to the JCCAE and to others in the profession who provided valuable feedback on this new document. Any updates, corrections or comments may be sent to Ronnie Ancona, APA VP for Education, rancona@hunter.cuny.edu
This report was prepared by Hunter College students Manuel Andino and Christopher Amanna, under the supervision of Ronnie Ancona, with generous support from a 2009-2010 Hunter College Presidential Initiative to Increase Student Engagement Grant (Student-Faculty Research Initiative).
A pdf of the report is available here.
Note: Those interested in certification reciprocity between states should contact the individual state Education Departments of the states involved.
